What do you guys think of the Macbook Pro 16 M1Pro?

A friend says that this is a great computer for video editing, but I'm wondering if this is true or not. What do you guys think? I've always thought Mac is simply overpriced and for sure you can get better for your money with a PC Laptop. Is the M1 chip really all that everyone is saying?

Also the M2 ? Is this better than a PC? I can't figure out how some of these chips compare to the PC equivalents...

The new Apple Devices with M1/M2 chips are comparable to what Laptops are offering, yes. Apple has really outdone themselves with this new chip. It draws very little power and can certainly hold a candle to most Laptops on the market today. If the Mac ecosystem and OS suits you, it's a viable choice.

It's certainly not better than a custom built PC, though, there are still more options to increase performance on a PC, especially with the new CPUs and GPUs that have been recently released. In a mobile form-factor, though, with that kind of power draw, it's something to consider.

Thank you. Yes, I was thinking of building a PC with an intel i9 13900 and an RTX3090 and I'm crazy about the Asus ROG Maximus z690 Hero Eva edition motherboard. But, I was wondering how a PC like that compared to an M1 or M2 Mac laptop. Because, building my own PC with the Evangelion theme costs around 3,500...
The thing is I want to get into animation with Unreal Engine and 3d modelling, but I'm not sure if these M1/M2 laptops are powerful enough. Like, these chips only have 8 cores, whereas the inteli9 I think up to 24 cores. So...I can't imagine how they would be more powerful.
But, maybe I just don't understand well. Any thoughts?

If you want to run a lot of Unreal workloads, then I'd definitely go with a PC. Nvidia and a Windows PC is what you should use for unreal development.

Thank you. That makes sense. Do you even think now is a good moment to build a PC? I can also just wait a year until mid 2023 and see if graphic cards costs go down. But, I'm not sure if they will instead go up, rather than down. These cards can make building the PCs soo expensive.

That's a popular question :D You can always wait for new PC parts and for old prices to go down. In the end you should buy a PC when you NEED one. If you can wait a year, maybe you don't need one right now?
