Hi guys!

Here is my current configuration:

Gigabyte X570S AERO G
AMD Ryzen 5950x
NVIDIA AORUS GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
DDR4, 64GB
be quiet! Dark Power Pro 13 1600W
case Be quiet! Silent Base 601 Window

I want to upgrade to:

GeForce RTX™ 4090 SUPRIM LIQUID X

questions:

1. Can I run on my current MB and PSU both 4090 and my old 3060ti?
2. Can I potentially run on this MB and PSU two or even three 4090 (suprim liquid)?

I am doing 3D modelings and renderings in 3Ds Max + FStorm

Thank you
Slaven

Yes you'll be able to run both with that motherboard, though depending on how thick the 4090 model is that you're buying the second GPU may not fit.

1600W is sufficient for two 4090s and the 3060Ti, I wouldn't run 3 4090, though.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your answer!

The new 4090 is very thick because it is water-cooled.

However, the guy who helped me with the installation said that it's not possible to run both the 4090 and the 3060ti! Apparently, to him, they are not compatible.

So, I already installed only the 4090...

I don't see why they shouldn't be compatible, at least for compute workloads like rendering. You can certainly use both. Of course since they have different amounts of vram you shouldn't necessarily render with both gpus on a single frame, but you can render 2 at the same time, each on one gpu.

Thanks for clarifying this. Then I will put the 3060ti back until I buy one more 4090.

And just to conclude, is 1500 watts enough for two 4090s?

Yes you have a 450W TDP, and even if you have a custom model that draws up to 600W (which model do you have?), the 1500W is sufficient. In compute workloads you don't exceed ~300w anyway.

Great!

No, it's not custom; it's the MSI SUPRIM LIQUID X.

And what if I want to put 3 or 4 4090s? Is there a bigger power supply available, or do we need to connect two separate ones? Do you have any examples of a system that could run 3-4 4090s?
